15. Deleting Terrain
To delete terrain, select the triangle tool from the left menu, the fourth
object from the top. Once selected, you’ll see a sub-menu at the bottom
with more triangle tools. For now, only the first one is important. Click
it. Once selected, the left mouse button adds terrain, while the right mouse
button deletes.
16. Adding Smarties
Adding smarties to your map is a simple process. Click the Object button
the left menu, the last button from the top. Right click > Create object
from list > Spawn Points > Smartie (Tunnel). You can move the tunnel
anywhere you want by dragging it. However, the only way the smarties will
pop out is if you set the tunnel to AIMode 3.
17. Adding Vimp
Adding vimp to your map can be easy or it can be painful, depending on what
map you chose as your skeleton basis. To add vimp to your map, you must
use the object menu. Click on the object button on the left menu, the last
one from the top. Right click > Create Object from List > Markers
> Vimp Team 1 Way Point. By clicking this, you will create the first
way point for your vimp heard. A way point is a point in which the vimp
will go to if it’s in a certain order. For example, I could have two
way points, the first one with the id 1 and the second with the id 2. The
vimp would travel from id 1, to id 2, to id 1, to… you get the picture.
To make multiple way points you must use the Team ID box. The first way
point you make should NOT have the Team ID box checked. However, let us
assume it is 0 for now. The second way point you make SHOULD have the Team
ID box checked, with an id of 1. If you choose to make more way points,
continue this pattern with the Team IDs. Make careful note NOT to switch
between Vimp Team 1 Way Point and Vimp Team 2 Way Point. If you start off
with Vimp Team 1 Way Point, then stick with it.
18. Painting Your Terrain
Before you start painting your map, it is IMPORTANT that you have your
terrain and objects worked out already. I HIGHLY recommend you do this
as the LAST step, or else you may have to repeat it many times. There
are two ways to paint your terrain, automatically or by hand. The automatic
way colors your terrain based upon elevation. You can change the colors
at different elevations, and everything in-between two colors is graduated.
To color automatically, go to the top menu bar and select Map > Automatic
Lighting. You’ll see a list of colors at different elevations followed
by two checkboxes, Enable Sky and Sun Light and Apply Automatically while
editing. I recommend you select both check boxes to see any changes you
make to your map automatically. To change the colors by hand, look on
the left hand menu and look for the colored hills button, the third one
down from the top.
