Welcome to Giants World Domination, the most dedicated Giants
Citizen Kabuto source on the Internet! Browse through the latest news below to
see what's new in the Giants community. If you're new to Giants and looking
for some multiplayer action, you'll need to download the 1.5
Patch.
Here are some plans for GiantsWD. Perhaps a little ambitious, but that is what I am all about:
(In no particular order)
1. Public importable ban list
2. Layout revision to be more inclusive of new/old features
3. Tournament coding and announcements
4. Minor page fixes (uploading)
5. Importing Nintendo 64 maps into Giants
6. Staff page
7. Router ports
I will be posting news as I progress through the list.
Seeing as how some people no longer take my warning seriously about using trainers in public servers, there will be a permanent ban in effect for anyone caught using a trainer. No warnings, no nothings, just a ban. I have setup GiantsWD to ignore the ban list for a short period. I urge you to check if you're on the list and clear up any mess before you lose access to the site.
It is a shame to see how rampant the cheating has become in most of the public servers. Being as such, I feel it is necessary to step up our efforts against trainers by centralizing the GiantsWD database and giving users the opportunity to import the block list onto their own computer. Here's how it will work:
1) GiantsWD will release a list of ips to block every week which will be downloadable by users.
2) Users can import this list into a Windows program called IPSec, which will then block communication with the hosting computer and any ip on the list.
3) Users who have this list in effect will no longer have to worry about trainers being used in their games, as those that have been flagged will not be able to connect.
In theory, this measure will act similar to an anti-virus update. Every week we'll release an updated list and users will be able to immunize themselves from harmful players. Efforts are already under way to begin this program and more news will follow shortly.
Mode: Base Build + Capture the Smartie
Map: Mecc vs Mecc 3
Teams: 3v3, though if two people feel they are particularly 'leet', I suppose they could sign on as a team without a third member, though I wouldn't recommend it.
Winning Conditions: Most flag captures in fourty minutes.
Misc rules:
• Five minute detente at start of game. Enemy bases cannot be entered during this time.
• No team can hold more than seven smarties at any given time.
• Prolonged base camping will not be tolerated. While the destruction of base buildings will be important for tactical reasons, there is no reason to camp defenseless players.
• All games will be hosted and monitored by King.
Depending on the severity of the infringements, breaking of the rules will either result in team penalties. King's word on all matters in game are FINAL.
Tournament will take place in December/January. A team registration form will be created shortly. Team standings and statistics will be will be displayed on the GWD front page. Future competitions will also use the system that is currently in development to calculate team rankings and promote mutual cooperation among players. Further details are pending.
Here is a snippet, by Infinity, about ports that need to be open for router users wishing to host GMM games on Gamespy:
UDP Ports 15000-16375 need to be open. Maybe slightly fewer in this range, but not much fewer. UDP Port 8911 advertises the server on Gamespy. Not required to host, but helps get more players. UDP Port 19711 allows people to see the game has started. If not forwarded, gives people a "Waiting for host to start game" message otherwise.
This, along with detailed GMM and how to install skin instructions, will be added to the Guides section soon.
